We present you our new song „Brotherhood Of Sleep“, taken from our upcoming 3rd album „Of Cults And Chaos“. The song is based on John Carpenter‘s second part of his „Apocalypse Trilogy“ – „Prince Of Darkness“ – a great 80s horror movie with Alice Cooper in a small role. It is about a secret order of the Catholic Church named „Brotherhood Of Sleep“. For ages, they hide a cylinder with a swirling green liquid. This liquid is Satan himself and possesses the people around the container.
Musically, this song combines many of our strengths; it offers heavy doomy but driving riffs, a haunting intense atmosphere and epic parts.
Our 3rd album „Of Cults And Chaos“ will be released on June 5th via Barhill Records on colored and on black vinyl, CD and digitally.
Inspired by H.P. Lovecraft and John Carpenter‘s „Apocalypse Trilogy“ films („The Thing“ – „Outpost 31“, „Prince Of Darkness“ – „Brotherhood Of Sleep“, „In The Mouth Of Madness“ – „Into The Mouth Of Madness“), the undead five from the German state Saarland went from sword and sorcery themes into darker, more chilling stories. Engulfed in misty atmosphere the tracks take you on a journey through cultist rituals and otherworldly chaos.
In those times passed by the band wrote seven songs and one intro which are doomier and heavier than everything they recorded before, while combining the bands trademarks like driving riffs, haunting parts, catchy choruses and dramatic dual guitar leads with atmospheric elements and thrilling songwriting. Vocalist Kevin Portz states: „This time we wanted a less heroic, more menacing direction, but still dramatic and epic. I think we‘ve ‚matured‘ in a good way by including some fresh nuances into our music while keeping the iron still heavy.“
Recorded, mixed and mastered by guitarist Gernot Gebhard at his Tortuga studio, GRAVETY fine-crafted the songs and put in many details which music and film nerds will surely like.
Vinyl mastered by Patrick W. Engel.
Let yourself get dragged into the cosmic chaos and join the cult!
